Elder Abuse | Abused Elderly Woman
Elder Abuse and Neglect
The elderly are often in care homes where the core expectation is that they will be well cared for. Unfortunately, there are times when this fails to happen, and they suffer abuse in the very facility that was supposed to provide care. Elder abuse claims involve situations in which cruelty is intentionally inflicted upon an elderly person. This cruelty can happen once or repeatedly and can take many forms, including physical harm, mental or emotional abuse, neglect, sexual abuse, and exploitation. Those inflicting the cruelty are typically trusted by the elderly person and can include family members, caregivers, neighbors, and friends. Elder abuse claims seek to protect, compensate, and support the abused elderly person, as well as bring to justice those inflicting the cruelty.
